An on-going, integrated tourism marketing campaign designed to attract visitors to the Carbon Chamber website and to increase tourism in the Carbon County, PA area.

  • Client: CCEDC (The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation)
  • Media Used: Print, Web, E-mail Marketing, Social, Signage, Promotional Products

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE

The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) is a multi-purpose organization. It's not only an organization that is there to support and help local businesses grow and is the finger on the pulse of economic development in Carbon County, but it also promotes tourism for the county. Therefore, their website at www.carboncountychamber.org (Chamber URL) or discovercarbonpa.com (Tourism URL) functions as a portal to ALL things Carbon County, PA. Besides providing Chamber and Economic Development-related content, the website primarly features seasonal information on events, accommodations, shopping, dining, cultural and entertainment attractions and other FUN things to do and see in historical Jim Thorpe and surrounding areas of Carbon County, PA (southern Pocono region). Our client, the CCEDC, faced a challenge on how to successfully promote their website as an important resource for visitors to the Carbon County area. At the same time, they wanted to greatly increase visitor foot traffic to their various towns and businesses.

OUR SOLUTION

Keeping in mind that the CCEDC is a non-profit organization and has a particular budget to which to adhere, our first plan of action was to create a catchy campaign that would capture the essence of Carbon County, PA in all four seasons and that would resonate with its visitors. In 2014, we created and launched: FIND YOUR FUN in Carbon County, PA, which would be the tourism mantra for the CCEDC for years to come. This campaign has grown every year, since its launch. First, the focus of this campaign was a logo and a dedicated page with seasonal tourism information on the CCEDC website as well as other campaign-related online content and advertising. Second, we designed a FIND YOUR FUN business card, which promoted the website URL and its content. These cards were distributed in strategic tourism locations throughout the county. Next, we designed an 80-page FIND YOUR FUN Coupon Book, which promoted hot deals of participating local businesses and also promoted FIND YOUR FUN resources on the CCEDC website. At the same time, we were part of an exciting limited edition CarbonOpoly Board Game project for which we designed the cover of the game. Both the coupon book and the game were sold all over the county during the holidays and online at the CCEDC website. Both FIND YOUR FUN products were a huge hit with the public and resulted in impressive traffic numbers on the CCEDC website. They were also a great way to promote the FIND YOUR FUN in Carbon County, PA brand and reinforce its meaning and purpose. In 2016, the FIND YOUR FUN in Carbon County, PA campaign became a hit on social media as the CCEDC staff and our winter and summer spokeswomen decided to hit the streets and promote local businesses and events with YouTube videos and Facebook Live videos, which have increased social media engagement by 300%. In collaboration with the Chamber, we also helped with the cover design and launch of the FIND YOUR FUN in Carbon County, PA Visitors Guide. These guides can be found at various Carbon County locations, especially accommodations. There is also a downloadable guide on the CCEDC website, which has been extremely popular. In 2017, our FIND YOUR FUN in Carbon County, PA efforts will focus on partnerships with local businesses and high profile organizations as well as an increased social media and PPC push.

"a taste of carbon county" RESTAURANT WEEK

An annual, week-long event that promotes and celebrates participating local restaurants. This campaign's purpose is to bring brand recognition of the event and participating local restaurants to local residents and tourists, and in turn, increase initial and repeat business.

  • Client: CCEDC (The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation)
  • Media Used: Print, Web, E-mail Marketing, Social, Signage, PR-Radio & TV

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE

In 2015, the Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) launched a new campaign to promote area restaurant awareness called "A Taste of Carbon" Restaurant Awareness Week. They needed stand out branding and other marketing collateral that would capture attention and entice the public to experience Carbon County, PA cuisine during that week.

OUR SOLUTION

Our first task was to create a logo and imagery that would successfully promote the Chamber's brand message for Restaurant Week. We decided to use orange and reds that are associated with food and hunger as well as incorporate a delicious dinner scene and other contemporary elements, such as a plate and utensils. We also had fun with fonts for the logo. The Chamber absolutely loved the imagery and asked us to create billboards, banners, online and offline ads, and tent cards. Next, we created a dedicated Restaurant Week page on the CCEDC website, which featured marketing-related copy and a listing of all participating restaurants and their Restaurant Week specials. The first year of this campaign saw a significant surge in website traffic for two weeks before and the week of the event. After the campaign was over, area restaurants, who had not participated, called the Chamber to find out how they could participate next year. In 2016, the campaign was heavily promoted on social media and in newspapers, T.V. and radio in conjunction with our other offline advertising. During the two weeks prior and during the week of the event, CCEDC website traffic doubled from last year's numbers and was the highest traffic received the entire year. Plus, restaurant participants doubled from the first year. The campaign will take place again this April 2017. We have already completed the marketing collateral, and advertising is in place. We are very excited to see this year's results.

"give the gift of warmth" heater giveaway

An on-going, integrated tourism marketing campaign designed to attract visitors to the Carbon Chamber website and to increase tourism in the Carbon County, PA area.

  • Client: Andreas Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning
  • Media Used: Print, Web, E-mail Marketing, Social, PPC, PR- Newspaper & Radio

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE

Andreas Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning of Lehighton, PA is a small, family business, which has been around for four generations. The secret to their long-term success is not only their high quality work, extensive knowledge and superior customer service but also how they live and work according to Christian family values. Their tagline states, "Let Our Family, Serve Your Family," and they really take it seriously. They feel blessed by their success in the business and feel very passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. So when they decided that they wanted to do something huge last year to give back to the community, we went to work to come up with a campaign that would make a huge impact.

OUR SOLUTION

In order to meet Andreas Plumbing requirements for the perfect campaign to help them give back, we came up with "Give the Gift of Warmth" Heater Giveaway. This campaign ran from July 25 through August 22, 2016 and a winner was announced on Facebook Live on September 12, 2016. The premise of the campaign was for the public to nominate an individual or family in need (according to contest eligibility requirements) who was deserving of a new heating system to help make their lives better and their winter warmer. Those nominating candidates needed to submit an essay or 3-minute video for judging by a committee of local business representatives. The Judging Committee would select three finalists, who were personally interviewed by Andreas Plumbing owners. The winner was chosen by the Andreas Plumbing owners. We created a campaign logo, the contest rules and a dedicated landing/entry page on the Andreas Plumbing website as well as promotional ads, direct mail postcard, e-mail blasts and social media posts. We even had Team Andreas shoot promotional YouTube and Facebook Live videos to connect with the public and invte them to submit their nominations. We also further promoted the campaign through radio and newspaper. The results of the campaign were incredible and the engagement on social media was overwhelming. Andreas Plumbing touched so many lives with this campaign, especially the winner's, and really brought an awareness to community need and the importance of giving back. The campaign was so successful that one of their vendors decided to donate the equipment that was installed by Andreas. In addition, Andreas Plumbing plans to run the campaign again in 2017.

sonic man (gem ultrasonic)

A multi-phase company branding campaign using an original superhero character. The Sonic Man character is designed to bring attention to the unique service offerings of the client as well attract and educate clients on how ultrasonic cleaning works and what can be cleaned. (We have completed Phase I of the campaign and in 2017, we will launch Phase II.)

  • Client: Gem Ultrasonic Cleaning & Restoration
  • Media Used: Print, Web, Social, Video, PR-Newspaper...

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE

The beneficial process of ultrasonic cleaning is a mystery to most people. GEM Ultrasonic wanted something fun and memorable to attract and educate its clients on how ultrasonic cleaning works and the many items that can be cleaned and restored using this method. Plus, a good number of GEM's customers are women with children, so what better way to make an impression but with a superhero.

OUR SOLUTION

Our client loved the idea of incorpating a superhero into his brand messaging, so the idea of SONIC MAN was born. The client was so excited with this concept that he wanted to write Sonic Man's back story for the website while we created his look and identity. Sonic Man is now being used on ALL GEM Ultrasonic's online and offline marketing collateral, including vehicle graphics. Promotional videos have also been launched on social media and on GEM Ultrasonic's website announcing the new face of the company. Sonic Man has certainly become a conversation piece and enables our client to creatively talk about what he does and its benefits. Our second phase of this campaign in 2017 is to bring life to our illustrated character by having a suit made and having an actor wear the suit for special school and educational events and promotions. We will also be creating a coloring book giveaway for kids, since they just loved the character during our test run. We have also been talking about adding a female counterpart to Sonic Man to appeal to female children.
